Senator Godswill Akpabio set to dump PDP to join the ruling party APC on Thursday

The senate minority leader senator Godswill Obot Akpabio is said to dump the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to the ruling party APC on Thursday in Ikot Ekpene.


Special assistant on prosecution to the president Okoi Obono-Obla confirmed the senate minority leader defection from the People's Democratic Party(PDP) to the ruling party APC.

The presidential aid in an exclusive interview with Premium Times stated that the senate minority leader is set to leave the PDP and join with the ruling party APC.

"Senator Akpabio is defecting to the APC, you can take that to the bank." He said.

Okoi Obono-Obla recently took to his Facebook page on Saturday night 4th August, 2018 saying that the senate minority leader senator Godswill Akpabio will be received by the acting President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo on Thursday.

The presidential aid further said that, senator Akpabio will be defecting in his constituency Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

Information that has been going round through out last have it that the senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio was making preparation to leave the People's Democratic Party(PDP).

But speculations have it that the senator has been on negotiations with the leadership of the APC for some reasonable terms for himself and his political supporters in the state.

It is revealed that the senator's terms was to be made the senate president and also the party leader of the state and the political structure handed over to him.

Although VsXtra has not been able to verify independently these claims but it is believed that the senator's political differences with the state governor, Udom Emmanuel may be responsible for his defection.

Meanwhile, Governor Udom Emmanuel on Saturday night convened an emergency PDP leaders meeting in Uyo. It is believed that the top agenda of the meeting is as a result of the senator's defection.
