Enugu boils as suspected herdsmen attack community guard

Suspected herdsmen has attacked a security guard in Akpanku Community of Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.


Vanguard reports that the community was aatacked on Monday 2, April 2018 living a security guard with substantial injury.
Reports also have that the suspected herdsmen were passing through the community when they saw a mango tree located at the compound of one Barrister Eric Ogudu and started plunging the fruits.


When one of the security guard tried to stop them it was gathered the herdsmen refused and it resulted to commotion as the herdsmen used machetes on the security guard.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said.


"The herdsmen and their cattle were passing through the community when suddenly, the herdsmen entered inside the compound of one Barrister Eric Ogudu and started mangoes in the compound.


"The security guard in the compound tried to stop them and they refused and in the ensuing commotion, the herdsmen gave him several machete cuts on his arms and shoulder. The guard started shouting Fulani people have killed me.


"And immediately the attention of the people were drawn and the villagers that came out started pursuing them and they ran into the bush." He said.


Meanwhile, confirming the attack the spokesperson for the police in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu said "The police have commenced investigation into the matter. This is as men of the Nigerian Police Force has been deployed to the community to calm the youths after Eric notified the Police about the horrific incident.
