Tinubu does not need 25% in Abuja to be President - INEC

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that 25% votes in Abuja is not mandatory for any candidate to become President of Nigeria.

The commission has told the court that there is no law that mandate any candidate to procure the 25% votes in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory before becoming the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The commission urged the court to dismiss the petition of the People's Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as he did not meet the requirements also the petition of the Labour Party candidate, Mr. Peter Obi as it lacks merit.
