In a statement issued on Saturday 5th June,2021 said that the Federal Government of Nigeria ban on Twitter goes against citizens right to freedom of speech.
It also stated that with the ban, Nigeria will be not be taken seriously internationally and that it will affect investors in the country.
The statement reads, "Nigeria constitution provides for freedom of expression. The Government's recent #Twitterban undermines citizens ability to exercise their fundamental freedoms and sends a poor message to it's citizens, investors and businesses.
"Banning social media and curbing every citizen's ability to seek, receive, and impact information undermines fundamental freedoms.
"As President Biden has stated, our need for individual expression, open public conversion and accountability has never been greater.
"The part to a more secure Nigeria lies in more, not less communication, alongside concerned efforts towards unity, peace and prosperity."
