I ordered the police IG to go to Benue but he went to Nasarawa I never knew - Pres. Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday 12 March, 2019 said he was never aware of the Police IG living Benue State for Nasarawa.

The President said he had ordered the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim to move down to Benue State and bring to an end the killings and restore law and order in the state.
Speaking in a town hall meeting which was held in the state house with somany stakeholders, the president said he is surprise that the IG relocated down to Nasarawa state.

President Buhari while speaking in the town hall meeting pleaded with all stakeholders and people in the state to remain law abiding as he has been doing everything possible to bring an end to herdsmen and farmers clash resulting to loose of lives in the state.

"What I did was to call him and give him directive and I didn't know he moved here, 'Benue State' and then didn't spend time and then moved to Nasarawa State.

"It's only now that I am knowing that. But I know I dispatched him here 'Benue State'.

"At every level you have to be loyal to people below you whether that person is loyal to you or not is totally a different thing. The easiest thing for me was to go on air and accuse the IGP of being too slow and not using the intelligence and resources available to him to foresee the action of the cattle rearers and so on.

"People would believe me, but I will be disloyal if I do that." He said.

Recall that on the 9th of January, 2019 the president had ordered the IGP to move down to Benue State as to restore law and order in the state after some herdsmen militia killed about 73 people in the state.

But the Governor, Samuel Orton accused the IGP of not carrying any tangible activity in the state and called for the IG to resign according to him, that the IGP was to slow.

This resulted to the IGP war of words with the Governor of the state.
