In a statement signed by the ex vice president's brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in his state, Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme.
"Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme (GCON).
"The said event occured at the London clinic at 10:00pm on Sunday 19th November, 2017."
Earlier reports stated that the former vice-president collapsed in his Enugu residence and was immediately rushed to the memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu where he relapsed and went into coma.
Recall that president, Mohammadu Buhari had call for the ex vice-president be frown abroad for immediate medical treatment when he got the reports of the health status of Dr. Ekwueme.
